Welcome to the new school year from Mrs. Shober and Mrs. Kries.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to a new school year at Whiton Elementary. We are certain that the coming year will be filled with wonderful learning, and that your child will have the types of experiences that lead to warm memories of school.
Our first day of school will be Thursday, September 7th. This is a full-session day, beginning at 8:55 a.m. and dismissing at 3:45 p.m. All students will report directly to their classroom upon arrival, and there will be many adults available to help students find their way. We ask that kindergarten students pack a lunch for the first day of school as the transitions and movement to the cafeteria may take a little longer. While kindergarten students learn the cafeteria routines, we will offer them only cold lunch for the month of September. As they become more comfortable with the routines of the cafeteria, including buying lunch, hot lunch options will become available.
If you and your child would like to take a peek into the classroom, you are invited to do so on Wednesday, September 6th. We will follow the schedule below in order to ensure a smooth flow of people and vehicles.
Pre-school, Kindergarten, First Grade 1:00-1:40 p.m.
Second Grade, Third Grade 1:50-2:30 p.m.
New this year, we will be doing our summer mailing electronically. Some of the summer information is included in this email and some will be found in Genesis, our student information system. Please take the time to read each piece of information and electronically mark your understanding of each item in Genesis as those items require a response from you.
